  7. If you're like me, you hate reading INSTALL files, so here is how to do it:

  9. #1. Fill out the following checklist, if you can't check a box, you can't 
  10.     run the program:
  11.  
  12. Do you have the following?
  13.   
  14.    a) a net connection
  15.    b) a modem (if your modem IS your net connection, you need 2 modems 
  16.                and 2 lines)
  17.    c) a pager, or a beeper, whichever term you prefer (alphanumeric, or 
  18.       non-alphanumeric doesn't matter)
  19.    d) a UN*X system and a shell (you may have to hack it a little for  
  20.                                  anything other than bash)
  21.    e) half a brain (this one is important)
  22.  
  23. Now remember, if you said "NO" or even "Uhhhhh..." to any of those you 
  24. probably can't use this program.

  27. Now that you've gotten this far, you're ready to install this thing...
  28. It's pretty easy to do really, simply read through 'beepme' and follow 
  29. the instructions.
  30. If you're not into hacking you can just set the few env variables and it 
  31. should work fine...if you want to play with the program a little more I 
  32. put comments all the way through it.

  34. For those who don't like reading INSTALL files and skipped that last 
  35. paragraph:

  37.             READ 'beepme' AND EDIT IT!!!!!!!!!!!!

  39. That should about cover it..
  40. This program is released under the GPL or something, so, like, copy it 
  41. and give it to all your friends and sell it to them and...wait...that's 
  42. not the GPL....
  43. oh yeah...I remember now...
  44. copy it all you want, but DON'T sell it (like this stupid program is 
  45. worth jack sh*t anyhow) and if you modify it, tell me, so I can put your 
  46. name on my flame lis....errr my list of credits.
